The PhD program is offered by the Department of Biotechnology at Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology NOIDA established in 2002. The Biotechnology Department has well equipped laboratories and extramural research grants from premier national funding agencies of the Govt. of India such as the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Department of Science and Technology (DST), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and Department of AYUSH to facilitate research in the core areas of Biotechnology.
The objective of the PhD in Biotechnology program is to produce independent researchers in various specialised fields of Biotechnology e.g. virology, immunology, pharmacology, medicine, genetics, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, stem cell biology, nanobiotechnology, drug delivery, diagnostics, bioremediation, agriculture, food biotechnology etc. Biotechnology Department at JIIT boasts of a Centre of Excellence on Biotechnology Solutions for Soil and Water Remediation and two research centres – Centre for emerging Diseases and Centre for Plant and Microbial Biotechnology.
